From the recording Backseat of Tomorrow
First single from the forthcoming EP "Backseat of Tomorrow (Collection of Early Demos)" which is set for release on June 4th, 2021.
One of the first tracks the band wrote and composed jointly, it's opening guitar sequence was loosely inspired by the guitar stylings of a late-80's English goth rock band, while the rhythm owes much to the band's shared love of the Velvet Undergound and Lou Reed's rhythmic guitar style.
This track in its demo form was originally planned to be re-recorded for the "Inappropriate Love Songs" album. Due to time constraints, the band never got around to re-recording it, so here it is in its unfinished demo version.
Lyrics
The angry man preaches what he believes
Like an old dog chasing cats in his dreams
My cold wet feet, across the sidewalk shuffle
And in the shops I hear the hustle and the bustle from you
You cannot make me feel for you
We think it all up and we write it down
Then we tuck it away where we know that it can’t be found
I just got to thinking about me and you
When your gone, will the sky be blue?
You cannot make me feel for you
And somehow I know on my last given day
All that I have will be given away
I’ll only live as a thing of your past.
I’ll only live as long as your memory lasts
